Riu Palace Las American in Cancun, 5 star

To begin with, most of the Riu hotels are being upgraded to a more contemporary look with purple and pink as the primary colors. However, this hotel is not going to be changed. This is a very beautiful old world hotel (reminds me of the Fairmount hotels) with a large, breathtaking lobby with stained glass ceiling, rod iron decorations and gorgeous marble floors. Also, this hotel offers very large hallways with carpeting which keeps the noise level down and air-conditioning, one of the few hotels to offer this in the hallways.

This hotel offers double standard rooms some with ocean views, Junior Suites with sea view, suites with sea views, and Jacuzzi suites with sea views. The lowest priced is the standard rooms which has a separate sitting area.  They offer free Wi-Fi everywhere in hotel. The rooms are quite large and comfortable. The suites offer a walk in closet.

This hotel is located on a beautiful beach with turquoise water. They offered shared watersports with another Rui hotel.

Restaurants consist of an Italian, Japanese, steakhouse, Mexican, and Fusion. These restaurants require advance reservations which are to be made daily either in person or by calling and Formal dress is required for the main restaurants: No tank tops or shorts, men wear long pants and t shirts with sleeves. The also offer 24 hours room service. They have a breakfast buffet, hot and cold buffet, pizza and pasta for lunch, and dinner they have 2 themed dinners per week, and a buffet.  Snacks are provided 24 hours per day and 24 hour room service.  This is one of the few Riu’s that does not offer a sports bar.

Drinks are included, mainly local and imported and in room mini-bar restocked daily.

They offer in room safes, a gym, table tennis, beach volleyball, tennis courts, and sauna and Jacuzzi, windsurfing, catamaran, canoeing, snorkeling equipment and 1 introductory scuba lesson. They have the Renova Spa and Wellness Center offering a lot of options.

Guest staying here and get a complimentary entrance to Pacha night club and drinks at the Riu Cancun. The hotel offers nightly entertainment.
