Sunset Beach Resort Montego Bay, Jamaica Oct. 2012 I stayed in the East Wing (beachfront cabana). Quietest part of resort Quietest beach areas: far right and left of resort Jamaican Restaurant (reservations required): very good! Italian Restaurant (ok food/ not as good as I had anticipated) 3 restaurants for reservation: can book all in advance and 3 of 7 nights are guaranteed Tanesha: sales manager who gave me site inspection of rooms Tanesha has been to Robin’s Nest in the past for face painting and Easter (brought bun/cheese) Resort Rooms: Standard Room: upgraded w/ new colors and TV’s. Bigger bathrooms than beachfront cabanas. Bayview and OceanView Rooms: same as standard except location Oceanfront rooms: same size as above/ request Beach Tower for quieter rooms. Safes require a security deposit Refrigerators: $5 per day/ reserve in advance *I actually liked the décor in the non-beachfront cabanas more in addition to larger bathrooms. However, I liked the location of the beachfront cabanas. Groups of 10 or more: Restaurant reservations are tricky. Maxiumum 10 pax at a table. Best to reserve in advance the main buffet for large groups or a private seating (additional charge) Steve Ford is VP of Sales Group reservations should go through Tanesha (not Steve). Email Tanesha: bedding requests, location in towers or cabanas, high or low floor, refrigerators, any other preferences 3-12 is child’s rate: hotel policy *Note: I liked the seating space better at Sunsets for buffet but I liked the buffet lunch buffet better than Sunsets. Holiday Inn has a more limited beach area than Sunsets. Rose Hall Hilton Rose Hall (MBJ), Jamaica Oct, 2012 2007- renovation of resort No more premium packages- upgraded standard packages Water Park- family oriented Rich Rose Hall history Hurricane Season- this hotel is hurricane proof, safe with enclosed lobby, all rooms/restaurants connected by cooridors 15 minute drive from airport Convention Center closeby Swiss Head Chef- Michael D. (excellent) Contact Charline for Group Reservations Better commission if booked directly through hotel versus a tour operator Hilton stands by treating their staff with dignity and respect. They work with the staff to further develop their skills in addition to working side-by-side on community projects (Blue Energy group). Cottages 1-4 are the disabled rooms Royal Decameron Hip Strip/ MBJ, Jamaica Oct, 2102 I loved it! Much better on the inside than what you see on the outside. Quieter part of hotel: Sunrise Building (the other building is the Main Building where most of the activities plus restaurants are located). Hammocks More authentic Jamaican feel compared to other all-inclusives. Great value. Buffet food looked excellent. Very clean resort with very nice staff. One Jamaican Restaurant (same day reservations required for 6:00 and 8:00 seating). Penthouse Suite- in Sunrise Building. Awesome- own private entrance with very large balcony overlooking the ocean. 2 bedrooms (one master and one standard) with connecting livingroom/kitchen area.
