LOCATION: next door to George Washington University
15 minutes by cab from Washington Dulles-can take the subway as well in about 30 minutes
10 minutes by cab/10 minutes by subway from the Whitehouse-add another 5 minutes to get to the Capitol
10-15 minutes by both cab and subway to the Smithsonian. Holocaust Museum and the Mall and monuments
5 minutes by cab to Georgetown
Not walk-able to any of these in under ½ hour

RESTAURANTS: Because it is in a collage area, the restaurants are either very expensive and elaborate or deli style near the hotel.
The restaurants on property are very good but very expensive. Room service is very expensive, small portions and not flexible on the orders.

HOTEL: recently renovated at the cost of $100 million dollars (it was closed for 1 full year during construction), it is very contemporary in decor both in the lobby and in the sleeping rooms. Huge bathrooms-HUGE! Lovely, expensive amenities in the bathrooms, bathrobes and towels are very thick and expensive. There is an in room fridge, down comforters, 350 thread-count sheets, magnifying mirror and bidet in the bathroom but lighting is a bit dim. 1 TV in each room that swivels from the bedroom area to the parlor area so it is noisy if you watch TV while your partner is sleeping. They have double-pained the windows so the traffic noise is minimal.

This hotel is great if you are visiting your child while they are attending George Washington University, but I would stay closer to the action if you are going to the museums, monuments, White House and Capital.
